Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery or VATS can be used to diagnose and / or treat lung and esophagus cancers. The diagnosis can be made with an incision of 1.5 cm, or with a few small incisions for treatment and an additional incision of about 5 cm. It is a very good diagnostic method for pleura, lung nodules, mediastinal masses and pleural fluid. Especially in the presence of recurrent fluid due to cancers, it can be used together with the pleurodesis process to prevent the fluid from re-accumulating.
